Michael Woodard is a self-taught marine artist who creates

Artist’s
Statement
The marine
environment with its watercraft, clouds, birds, and even the calm reflections in a harbor are in constant motion. I am fascinated by the way that boats and ships move through the water, and the challenge of accurately
rendering them. I am enthralled by the splendor
of the sky, with its infinite combinations of majestic cloud formations. I enjoy
depicting the beauty of light reflected off the water, and the subtleties on the water at dusk and at dawn. My goal as a marine artist is to convincingly portray boats and ships, and the water through which
they travel in all of its moods.
